Certificate IV in Aviation (Aeroplane)

The Western Australian Aviation College is proud to offer the Certificate IV in Aviation Studies which provides graduates with an intimate knowledge of aviation at a commercial level.

The Certificate IV of Aviation (Aeroplane) satisfies the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) syllabus for the Commercial Pilot Licence, giving graduates the foundations to begin building a successful career in aviation. Graduates from the College will have gained the CASA Commercial Pilot Licence upon completion of this course, along with the completion of First Aid and Dangerous Goods Training.

The theory courses and practical training are conducted at the Aviation College’s facilities at Jandakot Airport, Western Australia. Jandakot Airport is the busiest general aviation airport in Australia, as measured by aircraft movements, so graduates are well placed to cope with busy aircraft patterns.

Course Structure

The course is divided between theory and flying blocks. Each theory block is approximately 30 hours of class room work per week.

Flying blocks are arranged to extract the best possible benefit from training continuity. This integrated training program is structured to ensure that a maximum level of progress is always maintained – both in theory and flight training.

Regular progress assessments and CASA examinations are scheduled throughout the course to cover both theory and flight training.

As part of the Commercial Pilot Licence syllabus students will study:

  • Navigation

  • Human Performance and Limitations
  • Aerodynamics
  • First Aid
  • Dangerous Goods
