Private Pilot Licence Theory Courses

The WA Aviation College can guide students studying for their Private Pilot Licence (PPL) through the two main theory exams required under the CASA Syllabus: the Basic Aeronautical Knowledge Exam and the Private Pilot Licence Exam. The courses are held at our campus at Jandakot Airport, Western Australia.

For information on practical PPL training visit the Royal Aero Club of WA.

Basic Aeronautical Knowledge

The Basic Aeronautical Knowledge (BAK) Exam needs to be successfully completed prior to attempting the practical General Flying Progress Test. CASA require a mark of 70% or higher in order to pass the exam.

The WA Aviation College covers the theory required for the completion of the BAK Exam on a full time or part time basis. Our full time course is offered four times a year in week long blocks or alternatively students can complete the course part time across two and a half weekends.

The WA Aviation College can also facilitate students sitting the exam at our Jandakot Airport Campus.

Private Pilot Licence

The Private Pilot Licence (PPL) Exam needs to be successfully completed before either participating in solo navigation exercises outside the training area (this may vary dependant on the syllabus you are completing) or attempting your PPL flight test. CASA require a mark of 70% or higher in order to pass the exam.

The PPL Theory course may be completed on a full time or part time basis. The course is held full time four times each year, or is available as a part time evening course. The part time evening course is held each week of the year on a Tuesday and Thursday night, with students able to join the course at anytime.

The WA Aviation College is also able to facilitate students sitting the exam at our Jandakot Airport Campus.
