Overseas Student Induction Package
As it may be the first visit to Western Australia for many of our overseas students,
the College supplies a package that ensures the smooth arrival and induction of our
guests. The contents of this program include meet and greet with airport transfers, guided
tour of Perth, tourist maps, bus timetables, introduction to accommodation with food
hamper supplied, periodic social activities, constant course coordination and student
supervision. This gives the student the security of support and orientation when landing
in a new city. Upon arrival we will also supply an Australian mobile phone with a prepaid
amount already credited. The College Overseas Student Liaison Officer meets overseas
students on a regular basis to assist with pastoral care and ensure academic progress is
satisfactory.
Secure Fee Structure
The security of training fees submitted has been addressed by the Australian
Government. The Western Australian Aviation College is registered with the Department of
Education Services (DES) in accordance with the provisions of the Education Service
Providers (Full Fee Overseas Students) Registration Act 1991. The DES audit the financial
accounts of the College every year. Complying with their standards allows the College to
train overseas students. The DES also enforce a three tiered fee security structure,
giving supreme protection to student fees.
- Refund policy
The DES stiplulate the refund policy of the College guaranteeing a fair outcome in the
event of course withdrawal.
- Tuition Assurance Scheme
It is mandatory that the College maintain a Tuition Assurance Scheme. Yearly premiums are
paid to ACPET, our chosen Tuition Assurance Scheme. In the unlikely event that the College
is no longer able to continue business, ACPET will place the student with a like training
provider and fund the education equivalent course.
- ESOS Assurance Fund
As a final security net, the Federal Government of Australia has set up an ESOS Assurance
Fund which is underpinned by the Education Services for Overseas Students ESOS Act 2000.
The ESOS Assurance Fund is managed by Price Waterhouse Coopers Chartered Accountants, who
are responsible for conducting risk assessment of all providers. In the unlikey case that
the Tuition Assurance Scheme did not deliver, a claim can be made against this fund.
