WA AVIATION COLLEGE GAINS JAA APPROVAL
IT IS OFFICIAL... I am proud to announce that as of 12:00 UTC, on
07/06/05, the Western Australian Aviation College became an approved Flight Training
Organisation (FTO) for the Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA) Integrated ATPL(A) training
course.
The W A Aviation College, based at Jandakot Airport, Western Australia and Cranfield
Airport, Bedfordshire, U.K., has been training pilots since 1995. The Airline Training
Program, which was introduced in 2000, has been a tremendous success. With the benefit of
years of experience in delivering integrated ATPL programs, the College is pleased to
announce its new JAR Airline Training Program.
The course is a comprehensive 57 week U.K. CAA approved Integrated Training Program.
The duration of this course will be reliable, as full advantage will be taken of the
beautiful Australian climate. Students will spend time in Perth, Western Australia, before
proceeding to Cranfield Airport in the U.K. to conduct the Instrument and Multi-Crew
Cooperation training
The College has invested considerably over the previous three years, in order to
achieve this goal. Many people have worked on this project and also offered their support.
On behalf of the College, I would like to extend our sincere thanks to all that have been
involved.

UNIVERSITY RECOGNITION
Although the Advanced Diploma in Aviation is an academic qualification, it is also an
industry qualification, as it encompasses Civil Aviation Safety Authority exams and
licences in preparation for a career as a pilot. At course completion, students are ready
to enter their first position as a paid commercial pilot. Some graduates however, are now
choosing to continue their studies and move on to university.
The Western Australian Aviation College is proud to report university acknowledgement of
the Advanced Diploma and consequently there is now a progressive path available. Murdoch
University has given the Advanced Diploma in Aviation such recognition, that a graduate
may spend 2 further years at university and also gain a Bachelor of Commerce in
Management. This new dual qualification is appealing to many as it offers complementary
and supportive skills; it also caters for career contingency, making the the
possibility of a management position within aviation an achievable option.

The award of the Advanced Diploma in Aviation will also entitle a student entry to
Year 2 of the Degree of Bachelor of Science (Aviation) at Edith Cowan University on the
basis of recognition of prior learning.
