With the significant increase in IFR training, as well as multiengine CPL training, our Partenavias have been busier than ever over the last year, so an avionics upgrade of both our Partenavias has been approved by the club (both IXE and PNT are 1979 models).
PNT has completed its upgrade to a new S-Tec autopilot and a digital standby AH (in addition to the Aspen EFD1000 installed a few years ago). This means that less money will be spent in the long run in maintenance, as PNT no longer has any vacuum pumps. If you have an old checklist, you need to make sure to call out “vacuum: not fitted”. If you call out “vacuum:
green range” your instructor will have a chat to you about doing checks correctly.
IXE will also have some of its avionics upgraded to digital, and vacuum pumps removed, before the end of the year. At this stage we are looking into the new Aspen E5 plus digital standby AH.
When flying the Partenavias, in addition to the normal procedures, please remember to abide by the “RACWA Partenavia SOP”, a laminated copy of which is included in the aircraft folder.
